How an attorney-client relationship is formed
Under Kentucky Rule of Professional Conduct 1.18 (SCR 3.130(1.18)), a person who consults with an attorney about the possibility of forming an attorney-client relationship is a "prospective client." A prospective-client relationship is more limited than an attorney-client relationship.
Submitting an inquiry through this site, joining a waitlist, or starting a document intake does NOT create an attorney-client relationship with Johnson Legal PLLC. An attorney-client relationship with Johnson Legal PLLC is formed only when both you and Johnson Legal PLLC have signed an engagement letter, and only after a conflict check has been completed. The engagement letter contains the AI-disclosure acknowledgement consistent with KBA Ethics Opinion E-457.
Until an engagement letter is signed, please do not send confidential information you do not want others to see. The Cornerstone document-intake forms are designed to collect only the information needed to assemble a Kentucky document; they are not the place to share sensitive personal disclosures.
About AI use in document drafting
Johnson Legal PLLC uses Anthropic's Claude AI service for document drafting and intake processing. The firm's AI use is governed by Kentucky Bar Association Ethics Opinion E-457 (March 15, 2024) and the Kentucky Rules of Professional Conduct it cites — SCR 3.130 (1.1) competence (including comments 2 and 6 on technology), (1.4) communication, (1.5)(a) and (b) fees, (1.6) confidentiality, (5.1)(b) supervisory responsibility, and (8.4) misconduct. AI assembles initial drafts from your answers under firm-approved templates, and Elton Johnson substantively reviews and signs off on every output before delivery to you.
The AI does not provide you legal advice, does not represent you, and does not exercise professional judgment on your matter — your attorney does. Every document leaves the firm only after Elton Johnson's substantive review.
Anthropic commits in writing that customer content is not used to train Anthropic's underlying AI models. Anthropic provides its services under a Business Associate Agreement and Data Processing Agreement. Full disclosure language is presented in the engagement letter you sign before representation begins.
Outcome and efficacy
We do not guarantee any specific legal outcome. We do not represent that documents drafted by Johnson Legal PLLC will be accepted by every third party in every situation; banks, hospitals, county clerks, and courts apply their own acceptance criteria. We do represent that documents are drafted to Kentucky statutory standards as those standards exist at the time of delivery.
Practice areas + jurisdictional scope
Johnson Legal PLLC's practice is limited to estate planning, real estate, and small business in Kentucky. Johnson Legal does not handle general litigation, criminal defense, family law, or matters in jurisdictions where the attorney is not licensed. Services are limited to Kentucky residents on Kentucky-law matters except for federal-law matters within the attorney's authority. If your matter falls outside that scope, Johnson Legal can refer you to another Kentucky attorney.
